Helico Secours Uses New Twin-Engine BK-117 Air Ambulance Helicopter

The helipads of all hospitals that have them are now accessible for the emergency helicopter transport services offered by the solidarity cooperative

It is with great pride that Helico Secours CS announces the use of a new twin-engine BK-117 air ambulance helicopter. This aircraft will pave the way for a future initiative that will allow the service to operate at night, in addition to gaining access to the helipads of all hospitals that have them. The aircraft, which already bears the cooperative’s colours, is stationed in Saint-Honoré, Saguenay.

Alain Vallières, General Manager of Helico Secours, stated: "The Cooperative continues to grow steadily, thanks to its members. This new addition will allow us to improve our service offering, something we are working on relentlessly. This represents a major milestone for us. Since Helico Secours CS was founded in 2020, we have continued to grow the organization and multiply our partnerships. Helico Secours has now become essential in Quebec for emergency helicopter transport to hospitals. Our model, that of a non-profit social economy business operating as a solidarity cooperative, is the only one that is viable for ensuring long-term service sustainability and that can guarantee members pricing in line with their means. Thanks to the work of our teams, access to regions far from major urban centres is now safer for everyone traveling across our beautiful territory. What we are announcing today, this significant improvement to our services, will benefit a large number of Quebecers."
